76 Hours: The Invasion of Tarawa by Eric M. Hammel & John E. Lane

Albert sent many family members a copy of this book when it was published in the early 1980s. He inscribed inside: “If interested read the book, if not read pp 209-214 and 258-259. This book is unique in that John Lane (whom I have met) and Hammel did not have access to a staff to keep notes as events occurred. They dug this info up later. The book was written from a fox-hole level not from a general’s office. — Al – Top & Grandpa“
